OverviewoftheJune2022Snapshot Coreinflationremainedelevated,theunemploymentratewasunchanged,andthesavingratefell. OutputdeclinedinQ1.Thedropwasduetodragsfrominventoryinvestmentandnetexports.Consumerpurchasesgrewatasolidpace,withhigherspendingonservicesandnochangeinspendingongoods.Businessspendingonequipmentpickedup. RealdisposableincomewasunchangedinApril.Thelevelwasbelowitstrendgrowthpath.Realconsumerspendingwasnearitstrendpath.Thepersonalsavingratefelltoalowlevel. PayrollemploymentcontinuedtogrowatasolidpaceinMay,theunemploymentratewasunchanged,andtheemployment-to-populationratioroseslightly. CorePCEinflationovertheyearfellinApril,whilefoodinflationcontinuedtorise.CoreCPIinflationeasedslightlyinMay. The10-yearTreasuryyieldroseandtheS&P500stockindexdeclinedoverthemonth,puttingitsignificantlydownsincethestartoftheyear.Themarket-impliedfederalfundsratepathshiftedup.
