CreatedaBlueprinttoEndGunViolencethatrefocusestheNYPDontheindividualsresponsibleforthemajorityofshootingsinthecityandthesourcesofgunsinthefiveboroughs,empowersviolenceinterrupters,providesjobsandenrichmentprogrammingforat-riskyouth,expandsmentalhealthcare,andimprovescollaborationbetweenthecity,state,andfederalgovernment. LaunchedthefirstwaveofNeighborhoodSafetyTeamsfocusedoncombatinggunviolence,whichintheirfirstthreeweeksofoperationmade132arrestsandrecoveredmorethan25guns.Ofthosearrested,73werepreviouslyarrestedonaseriouscriminalcharge,20havesomeinvolvementwithagangorcrew,and21areonparoleorprobation. ImplementedanewCitywideCrimeandQualityofLifeEnforcementInitiativefocusedonthe17precinctsthataccountforalmosthalfofthecity’sshootings.Undertheinitiative,NeighborhoodSafetyTeamswillworkseamlesslywithneighborhoodandyouthcoordinationofficers,aswellaswiththefieldintelligenceofficerswhofocusonidentifyingthelocationsandindividualdriversofviolentcrimeineachcommand. AdvancedtheGunViolenceStrategiesPartnership,whichfacilitatesreal-timecommunicationandinformationsharingacrosslawenforcementandprosecutorialagenciesatthecity,state,andfederallevel,focusingontheworstgunoffendersinNewYorkCity. Launchedamulti-agencyinitiativeaimedattherevitalizationandrestorationofthe125thStreetcorridor,toaddressconcernsvoicedbylocalmerchantsandcommerceorganizationsregardingdeterioratingsocialconditions. KickedoffSaturdayNightLights,ayouthdevelopmentinitiativethatprovidesfreesportsprogramsforover3,000youngpeopleeverySaturdaynightat106gymsacrossthecity. FoughtforachangetostatelawthatwouldrestoreaccesstothefederaltaxdeductionforNewYorkCitypersonalincometaxesforapproximately100,000NewYorkers. Filedacitylawsuitagainstabuildingownerwhohasamassedmorethan1,900violationsacross15buildingsheownsthroughouttheBronx,Brooklyn,andManhattan.Thesuitseekstocompelpropertyrepairsorimposecivilpenalties. AnnouncedsettlementsincasestargetinganillegalhoteloperatorontheUpperWestSideandaslumlordinCrownHeights,pavingthewayforthecreationofaffordablehousingforlow-incomeandformerlyhomelessNewYorkers. GettingNewYorkersBacktoWorkWithanInclusiveEconomicRecovery: ReleasedRebuild,Renew,Reinvent:ABlueprintforNewYorkCity’sEconomicRecovery,withmorethan70concreteinitiatives,including: MajornewcapitalinvestmentsintheHuntsPointTerminalMarketandsurroundingcommunitytosupportmodernizationofcriticalfoodsupplyfacilitiesandhelptheneighborhoodthrive. Providingsmallbusinessesmuch-neededrelief bycuttingopeningtimesinhalf,suspendingthecity’s25percentsurchargeonliquorlicenses,streamlininginspections,andreforminglicensingrequirements.
