ByFood,GloriousFood!onSeptember16,2017 MydogsLOVEthiskibble!Theyaregoingon3and4yearsold.Oneofmydogsisgrainsensitiveandusedtohavenon-stoprashesanditchyskinbeforeIswitchedtothisdiet.SinceIswitchedtothedietoutlinedbelowtheyhaven'thadadaysick,asingletummyupsetoraskinrash.Ialsostruggledwiththembeingabittooheavy.Ididn'twanttocutthemdownanymorebecausetheywereSOhungry.Irotatemydogsthroughthevariousflavors.Myvetsaidthatitisbestnottorelyononeproteinsourceasdogsmaygetfoodsensitivitiesand/orboredwithit.IusedtobuytheOrijenArcanabutdon'tanymorebecauseitislowerprotein.Igivemydogsfreshproduce(freshrawchoppedvegetablesonceaday,andtinyquantitiesoffruit(Ialwayscheckwhatdogscanandcannothavebeforegivingthemanyproduce)sotheydon'tneedthehigherpercentageofdriedfruitandvegetablesincludedtheArcanakibble.IalsomixthiskibblewithPrimalrawfrozennuggetssotheygetfreshmeatwitheverymeal,andtheygetonerawmeatyboneeachweek(IbuythePrimalbonesfromPetClub).Ifeltweirdaboutgivingthemdrykibblealoneasthatmightbeconvenientforus,butIfeelthatitwouldbelikeuseatingprotein/energytypebarsforeverymeal.Istronglyfeelthatdogs(andhumans)needfresh,rawingredientstoo.Ialsogivemydogsaspoonfuloflactosefree(alotofdogscan'tdigestlactose)plainyogurtwithonemealaday.Oneofmyrescuescametomewithayeastinfectionduetothegrossdiet(youdon'twanttoknow)shewassubjectedto,attheveryshonky"rescue"place.OurvetputheronacoupleofcoursesofprobioticsandrecommendedIgiveheryogurteachdaytocuretheinfection.TheybothloveditsoIsawnoreasontostop.Theprobioticsandcalciumcanonlybeagoodthinginmyopinion,andifIrunouttheysitbythierbowlswaitingaftertheyeat,'causetheyknowitsmissing!FortreatsIgivethemCanidaeGrainFreedogtreatsastheyareverylowcalorie,small,firm,chewytreatsthatcanbeputinyourpocketwithoutthemdisintegratingduringawalkortraining.Ittookmealotoftimetosortoutwhatworkedbestforus.Iamnotanexpert,butmydogslovethierfoodandmyvetsaysthattheyareinperfecthealthandattheperfectweight,andthatthierdietcouldn'tbebetter,soperhapsthisinfomighthelpsomeoneputtogetheracompletedietforthierdog.HereiswhatIfeedthemtwiceaday:Alldogsaredifferent,butmy18lbdog(whowasaslightlyoverweight21lbdogbeforethisdiet)gets:-1/4cupOrijenkibbletwiceaday.-1thawedprimalmeatnuggettwiceaday.IrotatethroughthevariousPrimalFrozenmeatnuggets.YoucanalsobuythesefreezedriedandreconstitutethemwithwaterbutIprefergivingthemtherawprimalnuggets.InthemorningIaddaspoonfulofplainlactose-freeyogurttothierdishes.AndintheeveningIaddabout1/4cupproduceinsteadoftheyogurt.Generallyamixoftwoitems-eitherchoppedgreenbeans,cucumber,broccoli,carrots,cookedsquash(Iusecannedorganicnon-sweetened,plain-bewarepiepumpkinwithspices)red,yellow,greenpeppers,alittleromaine,otherleafygreens-sometimesacoupleblueberries,piecesofapple,orange,pineapple,melonetc.My11lbdoggetsexactlythesameexceptshegetsabitlessthanhalfofofthekibblethatIgive18lbdogateachmeal.OnceaweekIgivethemthierdinnerminustheprimalfrozennuggetandthengivethemarawmeatyormarrowbonewhichtheygnawonforhours.Ithelpscleanthierteethtoo.Hopethisinfoisofusetosomeone.Ifso,pleaseclick"helpful"asIspendalotoftimeonmyreviewshopingtoperhapshelpsomeone,andIalsobelieveinsupportinggreatproducts!Iamhappytoansweranyquestions.Icouldn'tbehappierwiththequalityofthiskibble.
