RequirementsformarriageregistrationinKorea IfthecoupleismarriedinKoreafirst: (i)    AffidavitofeligibilityofmarriageissuedbytheSingaporeEmbassyandtranslationoftheaffidavitinKoreanlanguage (ii)  Identification(Passportforforeigners,KoreanIDCardforKoreans) (iii)  ApplicationForm(availableatlocaldistrictoffice) Ifthecoupleismarriedoverseasfirst: (i)     OriginalMarriagecertificateandtranslationofthecertificateinKoreanlanguage (ii)     Identification(Passportforforeigners,KoreanIDCardforKoreans (iii)    ApplicationForm(availableatlocaldistrictoffice) Note:Theinformationstatedabovearegeneralrequirements. TheEmbassyrecommendsthatyoucontactalocaldistrictofficebeforeyouvisitasrequirementsmaydifferfromonedistrictofficetoanother. YoumaywishtocontacttheDasanCallCenter(Tel:82-2120,Englishserviceisavailable)andaskthemtoconnectyoutoanofficerinchargeofthemarriageregistrationatadistrictofficethatyouwillbevisiting. ApplicationfortheLetterofCivilMarriageRecord/AffidavitforEligibilityforMarriage TheEmbassycanassisttoissuealettercertifyingyourmarriagerecordbasedontheSingaporeRegistryofMarriages(ROM)searchresults. FortheEmbassytoissuesuchaletter,pleaseobtainthefollowingpriortocomingtotheEmbassy: 1.Anoriginalcertifiedhardcopy ofthesearchresultformarriagerecords issuedbyROM(note:thisdoesnotrefertotheprintcopyoftheon-screenresultgeneratedthroughthefreesearchserviceformarriagerecords). SingaporeanswhoareoverseasmayapplyforthedocumentviatheROMwebsite and/orthroughtheassistanceofafriendorrelative. PleaseuseyourNRICnumber toapplyforasearchresult.  2.Ifyouareadivorcee,pleasealsoproduceadulycertifiedcopyofthedivorcecertificate (CertificateofMakingDecreeNisiAbsolute/CertificateofMakingInterimJudgmentFinal)  3.Applicant'sPassportandNRICforverificationpurposes.  Formoreinformation,pleasecontactROMat+6563387808orvisittheirwebsiteathttps://www.marriage.gov.sg. ProcessingTime: ProcessingtimeforLetterofCivilMarriageRecord isoneworkingday(excludingdayofsubmission).  PleasealsobeadvisedthattheEmbassydoesnotprovidetranslationservicesfortheaffidavitintoKoreanlanguage.  Re-RegistrationofMarriagewithRegistryofMarriagesinSingapore/Updatingof MaritalStatusinSingapore ThereisnoprovisionintheWomen'sCharter(Chapter353)thatrequirescouplestore-registertheiroverseasmarriages,whichincludes"converting"or"endorsing"aforeignmarriagecertificate,inSingapore. Inthisregard,youarenotrequiredtore-registeryouroverseasmarriagewiththeRegistryofMarriages(ROM)Singapore,inorderforittoberecognisedasavalidmarriage. Re-registrationofanoverseasmarriageispurelyvoluntaryandadministrative. Generally,anoverseasmarriagewillberecognisedinSingaporeifitwasregisteredaccordingtothelawoftheplaceinwhichthemarriagewascontracted. Hence,amarriagecertificatewhichwasissuedbyacompetentauthorityoftherelevantcountry,isavaliddocumentandwillbeacceptedasevidenceofamarriagebetweenthepartiesnamedinthecertificate,unlessthereisreasontodoubtthevalidityofthesaidmarriage. Ifthereisanydoubtonthelegalityofyouroverseasmarriage,youmaywishtoseeklegaladvicefromalawyer.
