於是他們以「勇於開口，敏於行動，樂於承擔」自許，決心從自己做起，來改善環境，提昇生活素質，「主婦聯盟」於是誕生。

1989年，主婦聯盟正式成立「財團法人主婦聯盟環境保護基金會」。

透過組織力量，監督政府制訂政策；藉由社會教育，呼籲人人力行環保、永續生態。

HomemakersUnionFoundation(HUF)wasfoundedIn1989,byagroupofhomemakersinTaiwanwhodecidedtotakeenvironmentalandsocialissuesintotheirownhands.Forthepast30years,HUFhasfocusedonFood&AgricultureEducation(includingfoodsecurity)andGreenEnergy.Wehaveadvocatedissuessuchasreducingcarbonemissioninourdailylives,greenconsumption,greendiet,greenenergy,andnuclear-freecauses.Withclimatechangebecomingathreattohumanity,webelievethatactionsmustbetakenurgentlyatalllevels,fromgrassrootscommunitiestopolicy-makers.Hencemuchofourworkinvolvesraisingpublicawarenessandsupervisingthegovernmenttoimplementgreenpolicies."Bebravetoexpress,bereadytoact,andbewillingtotakeresponsibilities,”isthemottoofourorganization.HUFalsohighlightstheroleofgenderequalityandfemaleempowermentinourcauses.
