DCPMMcapacitycouldactasaccessiblepersistentmemory
forapplicationsorvolatilesystemmemory.Basedontheapproximate
percentageofDCPMMcapacityinvestedinvolatilesystemmemory,the
followingthreeoperatingmodesareavailableforchoice:
Appdirectmode(0%ofDCPMMmemoryactsassystemmemory):
Inthismode,DCPMMsactasindependentandpersistentmemory
resourcesdirectlyaccessiblebyspecificapplications,andDRAMDIMMs
actassystemmemory.
Thetotal
displayedvolatilesystemmemoryinthismodeisthesumofDRAMDIMM
capacity.

Note:If
theDCPMMstobesecureerasedareprotectedwithapassphrase,make
suretodisablesecurityandrebootthesystembeforeperformingsecure

Secureerasecleansesallthedatathatisstored
intheDCPMMunit,includingencrypteddata.Thisdatadeletionmethod
isrecommendedbeforereturningordisposingamalfunctioningunit,
orchangingDCPMMmode.Toperformsecureerase,gotoSecurity>PresstoSecureErase.

Therewillalsobeawarningmessagewhenthepercentage
reaches1%andaselectablepercentage(10%bydefault).Whenthis
messageappears,itisadvisedtobackupdataandrunDCPMMdiagnostics
(seeRunningdiagnosticswithLXPM).Toadjusttheselectable
percentagethatthewarningmessagerequires,gotoIntelOptaneDCPMMs>DCPMMConfiguration,andinputthepercentage.
