Cart 0 Personal Military Business Personnel LineofDutyDetermination   Alineofdutydetermination,orLOD,isusedtoestablishwhetheramilitarymember’sillness,injury,diseaseordeathisduty-related,thusentitlingthemembertocertainbenefits.Injuriesandillnessesarepresumedtobeinthelineofduty.Exceptionsinclude:Theillness,injuryordiseaseexistedpriortoserviceTheillness,injuryordiseasewastheresultofthemember’smisconductThememberwasabsentwithoutauthorityMinorinjuriesandillnessesarenormallyaddressedthroughanadministrativeentryintothemember’smedicalrecord.Moreseriousinjuriesandillnessesrequiringlong-termtreatmentorthatarelikelytoresultinpermanentdisabilityrequireaninvestigationandfindingwithrespecttothemember’sdutystatusandcontributiontothecondition,ifany.Suchaninformaldeterminationcanlaterresultinaformalinvestigationincasesofsuspectedmisconduct,doubtfulcircumstances,orwherethememberwasabsentwithoutauthority.ForNationalGuardmembersservingondrillweekends,dutystatusincludesdirecttraveltoandfromtheplaceofduty.Ifthememberlivesoutsidethe"localarea,"dutystatusalsoincludesovernightstaysimmediatelybeforeandduringthetrainingperiods.Adeterminationmayentitlethemembertomedicalanddentalcareandaportionofmonetarypayandallowances.Theamountofpayandallowanceswillnotexceedthetotalofpayandallowancesduethememberforasimilarperiodofactiveduty,norwillsuchpaybepaidformorethan6monthsunlessapprovedbytheServiceSecretary.Additionally,themonthlyentitlementmaynotexceedthemember’sdemonstratedlossofearnedincomefromnonmilitaryorself-employment.LODdeterminationscannotbeusedfordisciplinaryaction.    militaryBradleyBallMay27,2018disability,injury,readiness Previous MentalHealthEvaluations militaryBradleyBallMay27,2018readiness Next HealthInsurancePortabilityandAccountabilityAct BradleyBallMay27,2018medical,information,militaryadministration
