Chu Anping was a Chinese scholar, liberal journalist and editor of Guancha (观察, The Observer) in the Civil War era of the late 1940s. Biography[edit] OnJune1,1957,atthesymposiumconvenedbytheDepartmentforUnitedFrontWorkoftheCCPCentralCommittee,Chumadeaspeechentitled"CommentmadetoChairmanMaoAndPremierZhou,"whichstatedthatMaoZedonghadseenthe"world[asthe]party's".Boththegovernmentandthepeoplefeltthetremendousreverberations.People'sDailyandGuangmingDailybothpublishedthefulltextthenextdaywithbannerheadlinesandinaprominentposition. InJanuary1958,intheAnti-RightistMovementChuwaslabelleda"anti-partyanti-peopleanti-socialismbourgeoisrightist".
