ChinesepeoplebegantosettlehereduringthelateMingDynasty,comingmainlyfromFujian,andevenmorecametosettlehereduringtheQingDynasty.  DuringtheJapaneseoccupationofTaiwan,aroadwasbuilttoconnectJinshantoKeelungandTamsui,makingiteasierforpeopletovisit.ThisroadwasimprovedintheROCperiodtobecomeprovincialhighway2.  Jinshannowhasapopulationofabout22,000people.  CurrentlyJinshanOldStreetisapopularplacetovisitforday-trippersfromTaipei.  Hours: Alldayuntilabout7PM. ByBus:Therearebuses thatleavefromTaipeiCityHallstationtoJinshanhourly.Theridetakesaboutanhour.  ​ Map: ​Pleaseseebelow: OurJourney: ​ IhavebeentoJinshanOldStreetaboutthreetimes,andIhaveenjoyedmyexperiencethereeverytime.Itisadecentsizedoldstreetthatispopularandfulloffoodoptions.Youwillnotregretatriphereasatourist.  ThemaintemplehereistheJinbaoliCihuTemple(慈護宮 Cíhùgōng)whichisaMatsutemplethatdatesbacktotheQingdynastyin1809.  ThetemplewasstartedwhenlocalfishermanfoundwhattheythoughttobeanaturalstatueofthegoddessMatsuinanearbycave.Theylaterraisedmoneytobuildthetemple.CurrentlyitisoneofthelargesttemplesinJinshanandthereligiouscenterofthearea.  Anotherviewofthetemplewithagreenonionpancakeshopinfront. TraditionalTaiwanesedriedsnacksbeingsoldontheoldstreet.  ThereisanothertempleatthecenteroftheoldstreetcalledGuanganTemple(廣安宮 Guǎng'āngōng)whichisdedicationtoGuangyinPusa,theGuangshenHolyEmperor,andotherGods.OnehistoryofthetemplestatesthatearlysettlersfromYilanduringtheQingDynastywereattackedinJinshanbyindigenous peoples.Thereforetheyerectedthistempletomarkthatthiswastheirterritory.  Rightinfrontofthetempleisthemostpopularduckrestaurant ontheoldstreet.Thelinesarelong,soyouknowitmustbegood.
